COVID - 19 Update June 30, 2020
MCOB District Families and Students –
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe, and trust you are doing your part to slow the spread!
COVID-19 continues to offer challenges and changes as we prepare for the school year. Governor Ducey’s Executive Order on June 29th has delayed the student start date for in-person instruction. This delay to a return to learning has resulted in changes to our school calendar for the 2020-21 school year. The following 2020/2021 calendar changes have been proposed and are expected to be approved:
- August 17th – First student day
- October – No Fall Break – October 13th End of 1st Quarter; October 14th -15th Parent Teacher Conferences
- May 27th – Last Day of School
- June 7th – 30th – Summer School
These adjustments to the calendar will keep our number of student days the same as previously adopted.
We are reviewing plans for reopening and due to the delay in return to learning we will take more time to fine-tune the plans. At this time, we are anticipating that face coverings may be required where/when feasible and screening for symptoms is a topic of discussion. Parents may want to purchase or make a facemask or face-shield for your student(s) if you have not already done so. We are planning for full in-person classes beginning August 17th.
